Layla Gijsen (@bootlegsjaak) is an Amsterdam based artist and (graphic) designer. She graduated July 2024 from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, and has since then shown her graduation project “Alternative Openings” in places like the Rijksmuseum, Dutch Design Week, KunstRai, Object Rotterdam Glue and the SBK Sprouts exhibition.

The distinctive two dimensional language she developed over the years by printmaking immediately translates back into her tree-dimensional design and art pieces. In her work, Layla draws inspiration from the playfulness and creativity that she experiences in the underground scene of Amsterdam. As a young and innovative maker, she keeps finding new ways to create a meeting point between conceptual art and social design. While making usable art object that draw the attention and make every space more playful and fun.
